A surreal, hilarious and deeply moving one woman show from the daughter of the master raconteur, Ken Campbell. ‘Pigspurt’s Daughter’ visits the pool of life on Thursday 23rd August.
“Ken Campbell was one of the most unclassifiable talents in British Theatre in the last half century” ~ The Guardian Obituary, 2008
Shouldering the visionary Campbellian tradition, Daisy Eris Campbell has become a revered figure in her own right, helping engender a nascent counterculture by heroically adapting Robert Anton Wilson’s ‘Cosmic Trigger’ to stage in 2014 and 2017, and directing Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty’s anarchic behemoth of a comeback, ‘Welcome to the Dark Ages’ in 2017. She’s become a touchstone for esoteric knowledge and her work is always brimming with mind-expanding ideas.
A decade on from losing her father to the great vortex in the sky, Daisy has turned her attention to his legacy in ‘Pigspurt’s Daughter’, a monologue that works to both introduce newcomers to Ken’s personal myth, whilst opening up new avenues of exploration for those previously initiated. It’s a timely and insightful show that tells us as much about the current state of the world, as it does about her personal relationship with her maverick father. The serendipity surrounding the Campbells and Liverpool means this will be a special show.
